This blog … Because I’m Addicted reminded me of how much I love James Perse’ clothes. Every piece is extremely versatile, whether going from day to night, beach to bar, summer to winter… A lot of their stuff reminds me of American Aparrel actually, super cozy and breezy fabrics, loose fits. However, I have no money, haha, so for now I will just drool and hope I win something over at BIA!

Wine to Water, CNN Heroes

On my trip to Uganda, Africa last year I had so many amazing experiences and opportunities. One of these was meeting a man named Doc Hendley. Doc started an organization called Wine to Water. He raises money by hosting wine tasting benefits, and then uses that money to supply the means for clean water throughout the world. 

Yesterday Doc was selected as a CNN Hero! CLICK HERE to watch the video and hear Doc explain what he does, in his own words.  He has such a great story and does incredible work for Darfur, Cambodia and Uganda, just to name a few.

It is so exciting to see Doc on national TV, what he has been doing is so amazing and now to have so many people see him on CNN…. no words, I am so excited to see what doors this will open for, not only Wine to Water, but for the people around the world that will be affected.

Modcloth kills me everytime

I never spend much money on clothes or shoes. My occasional splurging constists of going to the local hole in the wall shop and spending $40 on two dresses or  $30 on  a couple pairs of shoes from GoJane. Even then though I usually spend money when I really need something. For example, I need an LBD (little black dress) and found a super cute one for $20, or I need a staple shoe like black slingbacks for nice events ( I have a wine tasting benefit this Friday, I’ll post more about it later)

 

Well, then I go to Modcloth and SWOOSH! all my shopping will power wants to fly out the window…

 

Here are the latest shoes and dress that I am about to splurge on… don’t let me do it!

 

These first three are especially hard because I have been looking for a brown or nude bootie for a while and all three of these are great in different ways… What do you think?

SO I just got these beauties for $10 from GoJane, I’m going to wear them tomorrow…

I also got these boots but they are ginormous so I’m exchanging them, but they are out of these “leather” ones so I have to get the suede ones instead(second pic). I know it’s not a huge difference but I really wanted some cheap cute boots that I can wear in the rain and not worry about them getting ruined.

I found these ones though and now I don’t know which ones to get…. a little help please. Their only like 3 dollars more than the suede ones… what do you think should I get the suede one’s or these tie on the side “leather” boots(below)?

Lastly I really like these Chunky shoes, I want some Nude/Tan heels and I love these. They remind me of the Marni heels I saw on Childhood Flames. She colored the bottoms with a black sharpie and they turned out amazing. See them HERE.

My alter ego is super fashionable…

I love dresses and skirts, but most of my life I have sucked, seriously SUCKED at putting things together. I think I was always afraid of what people would think of what I was wearing, so I was basically a jeans and t-shirt kind of gal. Except of course on occasion when I would let my true girlie side come out and wear a dress and makeup.

Then came my hippy/bohemian phase… which I still love actually and I look forward to intigrating it into my new found sense of fashion freedom. I think this look suits me quite well actually, I have a very hippyish look, if you will. Here’s a pic of me in my favorite bohemian skirt, it’s floor length and flowy and amazing…

Most recently I have gotten lazy more that anything. Back to jeans and tshirts, maybe a dress and tights if the weather permits, mind you I work full time in an office with all men who come to work in shorts and flip flops…

Now my Fashion imagination and curiousity has been running wild!!! WILD I tell you! A quick thank you to Nicole for making me feel like I can do it! I can be fashionable my way! … Anyway, I have been following a lot of fashion blogs and letting  my imagination go crazy. I even bought my first high waisted skirt!!!! It’s beautiful! I will post about it as soon as I wear the outfit this weekend…

I have decided that I will post more about my fashion inspiration and keep all you bloggers out there posted on the new things I try. Keep an eye out, and I want advice and feedback on it all!

The last one, I don’t even have enough words for… did she seriously go into my head, dig around and find an outfit out of the depths of my fashion dreams that I could probably have never put together myself and bring it to life? Yeah, she did. It’s kind of creepy actually, I literally gasped when I saw this. Tell me you couldn’t see me in this exact ensemble…

So now to begin my hunt for a hat and shirt exactly like that, the best news is that I can get that skirt at anthropologie, which is super expesnive of course so I will be trying my luck at the flea market and local thrift stores… you down for some thrifting Nicole? I know you are!

I’m feeling a little crappy today I lost my voice Friday night, and now I have a cough, I hope I wont be sick for Xmas.

 

I have a bit of last minute shopping to do, as usual. Next year I’ve decided to by things throughout the year, I’ll try to update each time.

 

Nicole bought my Xmas present while out “thrifting” which I love for two reasons.. 1) It shows that she knows me and is a super thoughtful person. 2) I feel good knowing that my friends know they don’t have to spend a ton of money on me. I can’t wait to see what she found…

 

I’m a little late posting a pic of my birthday cake, but here it is. It’s an “inside out Ding Dong” cake. SUPER good. This is my favorite recipe as far as the choc cake part. The frosting was pretty good, marshmallow cream, but I’m still looking for my favorite frosting recipe..

I wanted it to look girly and cute, I think I accomplished that. Thank you to my family for getting me all my decorating and baking tools for my B-day! Oh it was my friend Diana’s bday too, in case you didn’t figure that out by reading the cake, haha….
